Emma Sanders is a Partner at Just Family Law and a specialist family solicitor known for her calm, compassionate and pragmatic approach. In 2025, she was Highly Commended in the Solicitor of the Year category at the Family Law Week Recognition Awards, recognised for her work supporting children and vulnerable clients.
Before qualifying as a solicitor, Emma worked directly with individuals affected by domestic abuse and mental health difficulties, qualifying as both an Independent Domestic Violence Advocate (IDVA) and an Independent Mental Capacity Advocate (IMCA). These experiences remain central to the empathetic and considered approach she brings to her practice today.
Emma advises across divorce and separation, children matters, domestic abuse cases, prenuptial agreements and non-court dispute resolution (NCDR). As a qualified mediator, she offers MIAMs and mediation, encouraging constructive and child-focused outcomes wherever possible. Where court proceedings are necessary, Emma conducts her own advocacy, providing clients with continuity and consistent support throughout.
Emma is the firm’s specialist for Wills and Lasting Powers of Attorney. Separation and divorce often prompt people to think seriously about what would happen if they became ill or died without the right documents in place. Many clients going through relationship breakdown realise their existing Will no longer reflects their wishes, or that they have no LPA to protect them should they lose capacity. Emma is well placed to guide clients through both, ensuring they have the right foundations in place for their future alongside the immediate challenges of separation.
Coming from a military family background, Emma has first-hand insight into the unique challenges Armed Forces families face, including military pensions and co-parenting during deployment.
Outside of work, Emma enjoys travelling and the outdoors — particularly scuba diving, skiing and hiking with family and friends. She also has a very large Leonberger called Bodhi, who can often be found asleep under her desk
